10 Year Anniversary of Black Mirror

The Binge Watcher’s Guide To Black Mirror, Schomburg Shop

By Marc W. Polite

Good morning, my readers! Happy Friday! I wanted to share some news with you all. To coincide with the title of this post, the television series Black Mirror is turning ten tomorrow. The very first episode “National Anthem” aired on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom December 4th, 2011. A quick observation- as prescient as this show was, you know the state of world affairs are something else when Black Mirror’s darkest predictions seem passe in comparison to what we’re all still living through.

With that said, tomorrow deserves some sort of commemoration. I’ll likely re-watch a few episodes just because. Fanboy alert. If there can be a Twilight Zone marathon two times a year, why not have a Black Mirror day?

Second, a word about the picture in this post. I want to share with you all that “The Binge Watcher’s Guide to Black Mirror” is now available in the Schomburg Library Shop! As a regular patron before the pandemic, and where I studied and wrote articles after my shift, this is a very big deal to me. Also available are my other books, including my two collections of poems, Poetic Ruminations Volume 1 and 2, and my essay collection, Everything To Learn, Nothing To Teach.

That’s all for now. Until next post.. Peace!
