Good afternoon, everyone. Joseph R. Biden is now officially the 46th president of the United States. After the attempt to subvert the democratic process two weeks ago, the nation collectively breathes a sigh of relief. In Biden’s inaugural remarks, he notes that there is a need to “press forward with speed and urgency”- a reference to addressing the many crises facing this country. Biden mentioned the 400,000 Americans who have lost their lives to the coronavirus pandemic. He also calls to “defend the truth, and defeat the lies.” There is much to be done, but for today, let us hope that these lofty words are followed with the necessary action to begin the process of rebuilding and renewing.
