Hey y’all. So, its Juneteenth/Father’s Day weekend. Given how critical this year has been with everything going on, it is definitely a time of reflection for Black America.
Juneteenth is a celebration of when the Union army proclaimed the end of slavery in Texas on June 19th, 1865. This year, Juneteenth has been recognized more widely in a number of states.
With this anniversary being 155 years as of tomorrow, we’ve seen a number of changes that flowed from the national protests. Some have been substantial, while others have been surface. Both happen during a moment of sea change. There’s a lot to unpack.. and we’ll have to as time goes on.
It is also Father’s Day weekend. This Father’s Day, will be difficult for many, with all that has transpired. It’ll be a time to think of many great memories for some.
Enjoy your weekend, everyone.
