Why I Am Going To The 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington

Good afternoon everyone. The last time that I made mention of why I was not going somewhere, it was a sharp point of contention. So for you all, I decided to talk a bit about why I will be going down to the March on Washington tomorrow. As many of you are aware, this year is the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Back in 1963, the agenda was clear and defined. As many from around the country gear up to commemorate this pivotal point in African American history, it appears that we are on the cusp of yet another movement.

The aftermath of the Zimmerman verdict, the weakening of the voting rights especially in Southern states poses new questions to us in 2013. This has felt like a summer of activism to me. I felt like its only right that I witness this for myself. I was too young to attend the Million Man March, but I can go to this. I am hoping that an agenda does come of this march, as we do have a lot in front of us. For those of you who can’t make it, I will be covering it.

I will be on the Chantal Onelien’s radio show tonight at 6pm talking about this, and other things. Tune it at Your Inner Blue Print

if you are online.

I know its Friday, but I think this is important enough to mention. I fail at lighthearted week ending posts. LOL!
