Polite On Society Nominated for Black Press All Star Award

BP All Star Nominee

Greetings everyone! I just wanted to take the time to share some great news with my readers. This past Thursday, this blog was nominated for Best Black Blog of 2011 by The Historical Black Press Foundation  Based in Washington DC, HBPF is an organization that focuses on Black media, print and online. With media diversity being one of their core concerns, their coverage ranges from political figures to sports and entertainment as well. They publish Black Press Magazine, a major source of online coverage of the latest happenings in Black America. I am truly honored to be recognized by this news organization.

To be in the same category as Jasmyne Cannick and Urban Informer is heartening. After two years of grinding, its good to know that folks are paying attention to what I put out on this medium. I want to thank my readers for being apart of this journey, because it is you all that keep me posting regularly. It ain’t easy being a one man show, but I put my heart into this, and the rewards are coming forth. The awards ceremony is in DC in September. Looks like my Harlem born and bred self will just have to make that journey to see what’s good.  This should be cool. I haven’t been to DC since President Obama’s inauguration. I wonder if I will have a chance to hit up Bus Boys and Poets while I’m down there. Ha. #CantHurt

From here, its onward and upward. I am grateful for my journey, and hope you all continue to read, comment, and engage with the matters I raise on here. Peace!

-Marc W. Polite
