Good morning, my readers. I hope you are all having a restful Sunday. I recently picked up a book. It’s called “A Few Rules For Predicting The Future” by Octavia E. Butler. The late, reknown science fiction writer discusses the methods she used to tell stories.
Originally appearing in an essay in Essence magazine in 2000, it is a succinct retelling of Butler’s interaction with a reader at a booksigning on one occasion.
Someone could read the title of this blog post and be inclined to comment just to point out the absurdity. How can anyone catch up on something that hasn’t happened yet?
Well, if one looks at the advice from this reading, a possible answer emerges. Pattern recognition is a thing. It’s one reason many history majors, whatever their station in life, don’t regret pursuing their field of study.
With that said, I recommend that some of us spend a bit of our time catching up on the future.
That’s my blog post for today. Take care, and enjoy the rest of your week.

I’ll pick this up. Butler is the best!
Awesome! Thank you for your comment, Zeke.
