Happy Earth Day 2022! Good morning, my readers. I’d be remiss if I didn’t take some time today to acknowledge the significance of April 22nd. Earth Day was originally founded back in 1970. In 2009, Earth Day was officially renamed by the United Nations to International Mother Earth Day.  The purpose is awareness of how we choose to live on the planet, affects the entire ecosystem. Environmentalism comes and goes in terms of political strength, but the reality is that we as a species have to contend with climate change and its unpredictable impact on our society. It is not such a distant memory of how Hurricane Ida hit the tri-state area in Fall 2021, doing major damage. Climate observers believe that this will continue to occur and that there should be preparations made for them.

The unfortunate political reality is that the focus on “getting over” the pandemic and the drive to war means that there won’t be a concerted effort to deal with climate change-related disasters until it’s beyond obvious that it’s a problem. In this writer’s opinion, it is best that we continue to push for attention to be brought to issues around climate change, even against the will of the establishment. The last time I checked, there isn’t a backup Earth for us to go to. Just saying.
