There are many stories in the history of Black America. Not all of them are known well enough. One such example is the story of Ellis Haizlip, host of “SOUL” – a public television variety show that ran from 1968 to 1973.
During the show run, Haizlip would interview Black luminaries such as James Baldwin, Sonia Sanchez, Sidney Portier, and Harry Belafonte among many others.
Because of what we’re all living through at this time, Mr. Soul! The Movie is only available for screening virtually. This documentary is being shown in 90 plus cinemas, and is available until September 24th. Among the venues Mr. Soul! is playing at is The Sol Cinema Cafe.
