First Mother’s Day.. Without Mom

By Marc W. Polite

Good morning, everyone. This day has come.. Mother’s Day 2020. I.. can’t really sleep at the moment.. so I am up writing this post. The picture above is one I found online back in 2015.. and it spoke to me so I saved it.

It depicts a big fish, crying a puddle so the other little fish can live.

I can’t even begin to tell you the many sacrifices my late mother made for me to be where I am today.. I miss her dearly.

I was one of those little fish in the pond of my mother’s tears.

This is a difficult day for many people.. and it’s worth recognizing. Many people have lost their mothers in this pandemic.. and my empathy goes out to so many at this time.

In a world with multiple threats.. a deadly virus.. bloodthirsty white supremacists, and callous politicians, we have to take a moment to remember those of us who are no longer with us. At least.. we can take a pause.. and recall the great memories of our mothers.

If you still have your mom, count your blessings.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there.. and the moms in heaven too.

  1. Thank you, Marc.

This captures so much of what many are feeling. After 45 years, I still take the deepest breath on this and other days when I just miss my Mother.

I know that your Mother is so proud you and her sacrifices were rewarded.

    Always !
