Coronavirus Crisis Shows U.S. Failure to Protect Public Health

By Marc W. Polite

Good evening, everyone. The coronavirus pandemic situation has been worsening with each passing day. Museums are closed, sporting events have been canceled, and there’s an air of panic as people watch our elected officials fail in the face of a crisis.

The federal reserve is going to inject 1.5 trillion into the economy almost without reservation while pressure had to be brought to bare for the possibility of waiving the exuberant fee for coronavirus testing. Sometimes, situations occur in such a way that make it not that hard to see the contradictions in our society.

Here we are in a public health crisis, and the resources are suddenly available to keep Wall Street afloat. Meanwhile, the people are left to fend for themselves. Didn’t we just see a billionaire spend a few hundred million on a failed presidential campaign? Why not dedicate those massive resources to getting the increased assistance needed at this time?

Some may say that this is not the time to politicize a crisis. To that, I say.. stuff it. This is exactly the time to point out the the discrepancy. Money over people is the order of this society. As long as the people are coached and conditioned to reject policies that are for the greater good, this state of affairs will continue.
