Mueller Report Finds No Evidence of Trump Collusion with Russia

Good afternoon, everyone. As I am sure you have read in various news sources, the Mueller Report has concluded. This afternoon, it was confirmed that there was no evidence of Trump collusion with Russia in the 2016 election. This investigation concludes after two years, while finding criminality in his circle, didn’t yield the smoking gun that a lot of people were hoping for. Many people are calling this a “nothingburger”

Two years. Two years of all of this discussion about Russia- and browbeating leftists, independents, and Green Party people as possible Russian agents. Instead of talking about political issues, we got “The Russians Did It”

Make no mistake, this is a big deal. This entire RussiaGate campaign/Mueller investigation lasted for two years, to produce nothing. While there are elements of it that are funny, here’s one that isn’t: A two year long investigation that concludes with no verifiable collusion evidence actually makes President Trump look stronger, especially with his base. As hard as it is historically to run against an incumbent president, it’s the exact opposite of what the nominal “opposition” party needed. “The Resistance” did a wonderful job with this play, didn’t they? Wow.

President Trump is already using this to his advantage, and will likely use this as a rallying point for his supporters. This is a big fumble for the Democrats and the mainstream media.

It may not feel like it, but this will have an impact on the 2020 election.

The authentic left must figure out a way to fight through this moment, as it has been smeared by the liberal/neo-liberal left, and been marginalized too much to fight the strengthening far right. This vindicates all leftists who were denounced as Russian dupes, but we should not hold our breath for a forthcoming apology from the mainstream liberals. We have to struggle against them and the far right simultaneously.

It even.. begs the question of how much we should focus on electoralism .. given the reality. But, that’s a discussion for another post.
