No Indictment in Tamir Rice Killing

I’m sure many of you have heard by now that there will be no indictment of the officers involved in the killing of 12 year old Tamir Rice. This is not a surprising outcome, but it is still infuriating.

Here we are, near the end of a year when police have killed almost 1000 people.  With these non-indictments, it’s like the victim is killed twice.  The death of Black children, women, and men is justified after the fact, and we’re supposed to just deal with it.

This state of being Black in America is at times worse than a war zone.  At least in wars, the two opposing forces aren’t supposed to kill children. If this reads like hyperbole, then tell me why it’s not true.

When people justify slayings like this, and then quote Martin Luther King to encourage us to temper our collective anger, it’s hard not to be cynical about this “justice system”
