Good evening folks. I have some good news for you, despite the government shutdown. I received word an hour ago that Polite On Society is one of the three finalist for Best Political or News Blog by the Black Weblog Awards. Thank you for everyone that voted! You have helped propel me past the first stage of voting, with the possibility of taking it all. Also in the category with this site are Good Black News and Inform and Engage. This is a big deal for me, as I did not make it this far last year. I don’t mean to get all “You like me, you really like me” on y’all.. but I am amped about the possibility of a victory. To go from having a 1 in 6 chance, to a 1 in 3 chance is an accomplishment, even though I been at this for a lil’ bit.
Much respect goes out to my competition. And much thanks goes out to those of you who voted for me in this first round. I will be needing your support again to take it home. Voting begins TODAY over at the Black Weblog Awards website, and goes up until October 12th. The final winners will be announced on November 2nd at the Black Social Media Summit in Houston. The mantra of #BlogSoHard has really paid off. I hope those of you who saw me through these “blog primaries” will ride with me into the “general election” to borrow a term from the political world. Let’s keep pressing on, and informing the people at the same time. Thanks all, and I will see you next blog post!
