Greetings all. Do you know that today, August 13th is the 92nd Anniversary of the Black Nationalist Flag? The red, black and green flag first came into existence as a result of a Universal Negro Improvement Association conference back in 1920. It was created to respond to the smear song that “Every Race Has a Flag, But The Coon”
The Red stands for the blood of our ancestors, Black for the people, and Green for land. This flag has influenced the anti-colonial movements of the 1960’s as you can see some iterations of it in the flags of various nations. Happy 92nd Anniversary to the Red, Black, And The Green. Talk about Black August!
