Damn. I found out early this morning from a text message from a friend. I am sure most of my readers have heard by now that recording artist Nate Dogg passed from a stroke late last night/early this morning. In addition to the sense of loss that comes with the passing of any one, when I learned that he was only 41, that fact made in all the more difficult to swallow.
It’s unnerving to see folks passing away so early in life. Nate was only 10 years older than me. Even writing this at the moment just doesn’t seem right. The other day I was reading an article about how more people are having strokes in their 20’s and 30’s. It really confounds me. Why? There has to be some social reason for it. Could it be that all the bad food choices are plentiful and cheap? Whatever the reason, its an increasingly disturbing reality. Here’s where I lean to the experts in the field, cause I am not about to hazard an answer to the health issues that disproportionately plague the Black community. This is not normal. And its sad when it hits like this. Rest in Peace, Nate Dogg
