Residents of Harlem should be aware that there is a petition to co-name 134th street between Adam Clayton Powell Blvd and Malcolm X Blvd “Hubert Harrison Way” Hubert Harrison is known as “The Father of Harlem Radicalism” and made many contributions to the political scene of Harlem in the early 20th century.
If you want a copy of the petition, go here. To find out more about Hubert Harrison, visit the website of Prof. Jeffrey B. Perry. He is the author a major work on the radical thinker, and has done a great deal of work in unearthing the memory of this obscured Black historical figure.

I am HUGE fan of Hubert Henry Harrison. I think I first heard of him about 15 years ago at a Runoko Rashidi lecture in Los Angeles. Perry also has a big ole HHH reader that is very good. I found a copy in Eso Won Books several years back for like $2. kzs
