Good evening, my readers. This past Saturday, I attended Seize The Cure 4 Epilepsy. It was an event with the purpose of bringing social awareness to people living with epilepsy.

I was there as one of the vendors supporting this cause. Held at the Sonia Sotomayor Community Center in the Bronx, Seize The Cure 2025 was  equal parts informative, and featured entertainment also.

Initiated by Tara Gibson in 2017, “Seize The Cure” began as a one-time event. Over the span of the last 8 years, it has expanded into an annual concert/forum series, drawing more media attention in name of a good cause. In addition to this event,  they host support groups, and workshops that families can attend to learn how to best support those affected.

The vendors present there included advocacy groups like United Forward, We Are Phenomenal Women Inc, and Muddy Paws Rescue. Representatives from FDNY and the New York Public Library had tables also, and they gave out coloring books and bags to children in attendance.

Health centered vendors like Oak Street Health, and fitness trainer Pasquale Desavino were there also. Author and poet Alyssa D’Amico presented about some of her experiences as a person living with epilepsy.

Being there as a supporter for this worthwhile cause was it’s own reward.
