On Saturday, September 30th, 2023, the 10th Annual Independent Authors Book Expo convened. Held at Kean University in Union, New Jersey, IABX 2023 also had to contend with weather that could have kept crowds away. The record torrential downpour that caused flooding in parts of New York City last Friday had a lot of people concerned the whole weekend. However, considering that IABX 23 was originally planned as an indoor event from the get go, the show went on.
Author and IABX founder Renaee Smith welcomed vendors, authors and attendees alike, who ventured out in spite of. Attendees gained access to an informative workshop on financial literacy and credit management from Tamara Suvil of Chase Bank.
Among the new authors I met as a first time vendor there were Malik H. Majeed, author of “Roc The Mike”, and Dr. Sheila R. Trapp, author of “Seven Weeks“. I also noticed science fiction writer Tom Kranz, author of “Moon Rescue”. Also present were Deneen Connor, author of “Tell Him” and Alyssa D’Amico, author of Short Circuit An Epileptic Journey and the forthcoming “Unexpected System Error”
You can see the full list of authors at official IABX Authors page. Towards the end of the yearly event, attendees also had an opportunity to learn how to create an audiobook using the Audiobook Creation Exchange website.
Overall, I had a good experience at IABX 2023.
