By Marc W. Polite
Greetings my readers. For this week’s Writer Wednesday, we get to hear from Letitia Scott-Jackson. Letitia is an author of 4 books, as well as an entrepreneur and podcaster. Read below to learn more about her advocacy work, and views on excelling in life.
Polite On Society: For our readers who are not familiar with you, who is Letitia Scott-Jackson?
Letitia Scott-Jackson: Letitia Scott-Jackson is a self-published author and distinguished authority on mentorship, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
As CEO and founder of Keeping Families Connected (KFC), she finds passion and fulfillment in bringing faith, hope, and love to those who cannot advocate for themselves. KFC is a nonprofit organization operating nationally with multiple ministries.
POS: One of your books is titled Prison Please Prepare Me. Tell us a little bit about this book, and why you felt compelled to write it.
LSJ: My book, Prison Please Prepare Me was a God given assignment. A wise man once said to me, “You Don’t Know What You Don’t Know!’ You Don’t Have To Be In Prison To Be Imprisoned.” I am only on assignment to encourage, enlighten and to empower people all over the world. This book is not just for people in prison, yet it is for anyone that wants a new start in life, want to level and or just want to do something different. “if you want something you’ve never had, you have do something that you have never done and when you do something that you have never done, you may just get that at which you’ve never had!
POS: What motivated you to start Keeping Families Connected?
LSJ: In 2015, I birthed Keeping Families Connected out of a personal desire to make meaningful contributions to the lives of those who are incarcerated and the family members they are separated from. Ever since, I want to spread the hope of redemption and connection one interaction, letter to an inmate and prison visit at a time. I also have a passion for speaking to youth and young adults about making the best choices now, based on my own past experiences. I have been blessed to build several businesses, mentor students, and members of her church to define your own success.
POS: What is one powerful life lesson that you would want readers to take away from reading your works?
LSJ: I get excited when I get to share this simply because in this day and time and in this generation people don’t like to LISTEN. See I said it earlier, “You Don’t Know What You Don’t Know!.” So I came up with an acronym for LISTEN. This was also one of the reasons I went through a lot of the trials and tribulations I went through is because, I DID NOT LIKE TO LISTEN! My words of wisdom to all who reads this article is : Study to show yourself approved. No one can take away what you know and to:
L. Learn
I. Intellectual
S. Sound
T. Teaching
E. Evolving
N. Now!
POS: Are there any future events and appearances that you would like our readers to know about?
LSJ: I will be hosting my only annual fundraiser for Keeping Families Connected as we are not government funded yet (God Graced Funded we are) on October 21, 2023 at Bentley Dallas Dealership Dallas, TX. Creations Of Fashion For A Cause and also I will be guest judge at the Fashion Show hosted by John Blassingame and Bronner Brothers on October 27th through October 29th, 2023 in Newark, NJ
