By Marc W. Polite
Good morning, my readers. Today is the twelve year anniversary of Polite On Society. On May 17th, 2009 is when this site came into being.
I started this blog after finishing graduate school, not quite sure what to do with myself next. As some of you you might know, this site wasn’t my first attempt at a blog. (Would y’all believe there was a time when I exclusively blogged about video games?) But, after a number of tries, this one took.
In thinking about all that has happened in this past dozen years, it’s been mind boggling. Resulting from this site, and those of you reading who supported my work are a number of springboard endeavors. Among them are four books (including my first book deal), a number of conference appearances, newspaper articles (shoutout to the Amsterdam News!) and most recently a radio show on One Voice FM.
I want to take the time this early Monday morning to say thank you to all of my subscribers and readers for continuing to support this site. It’s taken some hits, and been the source of some controversy, but only for the purpose of shining a light on what needs to be improved in our society. Not just for the sake of ticking people off for no good reason.
I could go on, but I’m sure y’all get the point. Take care, stay aware, and stay safe.
