The desire to improve one’s health is a strong motivating factor in changing one’s eating habits. For African Americans who are considering changing their diet for the purposes of primary prevention, we now have the African American Vegan Starter Guide as a resource. It is supported by Farm Sanctuary and compiled by Tracye McQuirter in collaboration with number of African-American Vegan experts. The guide functions as an introduction to this transition to a vegan diet. Tracye McQuirter, MPH the author of “By Any Greens Necessary” spoke to us about some challenges to this adjustment. “The three biggest challenges to transitioning to vegan is people think its too expensive, there is no support, and that there is no taste.”
The purpose of the guide is to address those challenges, and make it accessible to people. The guide is now available for download at no charge.
