POS: What is the main overarching message of this book? What do you want the reader to take away from it?

SC: The basic message is that parents must monitor their children’s educational progress EVERY DAY from the first day of school until high school graduation. I offer 3 simple solutions. Three simple things all parents can do to ensure that their children do well in school. When these things are neglected, many children do poorly. It doesn’t cost money to have a child who does well in school. It just takes time. Those who don’t put in the time and show the interests, have children who will suffer the consequences.

POS: As an educator with years of experience, what is one key thing that parents should know about the school system and helping their children navigate it?

SC: The most important thing is to be involved. Know what’s going on every day. It’s a relationship. Teachers, parents and students each have a role in the development of a child. When one group fails to meet their responsibilities, problems occur.  My book is very specific. There are very specific, simple things that should be done, which are neglected by the parents of failing children.

We thank Suzette for taking the time to speak with us on these pressing matters in student education.
